Dikili, Coastal district in İzmir Province, Turkey
Dikili is a coastal municipality in İzmir Province along the Aegean Sea. The area covers extensive territory and contains thermal springs as well as a natural crater lake in the village of Merdivenli.
The area has ancient roots through the archaeological site of Atarna and the historic settlement of Çandarlı, known as Pitane in classical times. These two places connect the region to the Greek past of the Aegean coast.
The central mosque dates to the 18th century and displays craftsmanship through its wooden structure assembled without metal nails. Such traditional building techniques still shape the place's appearance today.
The weekly market happens every Tuesday near the port, where local fishmongers sell fresh catches from the sea. You can also find regional products from various vendors in the area.
From the beaches, visitors can see the Greek island of Lesbos across the Aegean Sea. Ferry connections allow regular travel between the two places.
