Pergamon Bridge, Roman stone bridge in Bergama, Turkey

The Pergamon Bridge stretches 196 meters across the Selinus River with two parallel barrel vaults separated by a continuous partition wall.

Emperor Hadrian ordered the construction of this bridge between 117 and 138 AD to support the development of the Red Basilica temple complex.

The bridge played a central role in connecting different sections of ancient Pergamon, facilitating the movement of people toward religious and commercial areas.

Modern visitors can observe both entrance tubes of the bridge, although the western section contains accumulated silt that affects its original appearance.

The structure features two parallel tubes with identical 9-meter spans and 4.5-meter rises, making it the largest substruction bridge from Roman times.
