Oymapinar Dam

The Oymapinar Dam crosses the Manavgat River using a curved concrete arch design about 360 meters wide. Four turbines hidden underground convert flowing water into electrical power for homes and industry.

Construction began in the late 1970s with help from Soviet and German engineers and finished in the early 1980s. This project marked a major milestone in Turkey's development of hydroelectric power.

This engineering project became a symbol of how communities harness river power for electricity and development. Locals view it as an important part of modern life in the region.

The dam is located about 20 kilometers upstream from Manavgat town and roughly 40 kilometers east of Antalya city. Visiting works best in clear weather when you can see the water and surrounding landscape clearly.

The reservoir behind the structure creates a large lake used for recreation and fishing by locals. This artificial lake has also become a habitat for fish populations and supports local ecosystems.
