Seleucia, Ancient Greek archaeological site near Şıhlar, Turkey.

Seleucia is an ancient Greek archaeological site situated on a hilltop with steep escarpments near Şıhlar in Antalya Province. The ruins contain temples, churches, a Roman bath complex, and numerous preserved columns and grindstones scattered across the area.

The city was founded around 305 BC by Seleucus I Nicator and became a major settlement in the Pamphylian region of ancient Anatolia. It served as an important center during both the Hellenistic and subsequent Roman periods of occupation.

The agora features multi-story building facades that show how architectural styles changed from Hellenistic to Roman times. Walking through these ruins reveals the layered development of the city across different periods.

The remote location of this archaeological site has protected it from significant material removal, leaving most structures relatively intact. The steep terrain requires appropriate footwear and caution when exploring the different areas across the hilltop.

Medieval sailors and cartographers referred to this location as Scandalor, a name that appears on numerous historic maritime navigation charts. This alternate designation reveals the site's enduring connection to the region's seafaring heritage.
