Can Hasan

Can Hasan 1 Mound extends over an area of 360 by 280 meters, reaching a height of 5 meters on fertile land near the Taurus Mountains.

The British Institute at Ankara conducted systematic excavations from 1961 to 1967, revealing seven distinct layers spanning from Late Neolithic to Late Chalcolithic periods.

The site contains numerous artifacts including clay figurines, stone tools, and pottery in red, brown, and black-slipped variations that reflect ancient crafting techniques.

Located 12 kilometers northeast of Karaman city center, the archaeological site holds registration number 1879 and received protected status in February 1986.

Researchers discovered a preserved cow skull among the remains, providing evidence of early animal domestication practices in Anatolia during the Chalcolithic period.
