Lake Meke

Lake Meke consists of two interconnected lakes within a volcanic crater, featuring multiple small islands and a prominent volcanic cone in its center.

The primary crater formed through volcanic activity four million years ago, with a subsequent eruption creating an inner crater approximately 9,000 years ago.

The natural monument status granted in 1989 reflects the Turkish government's commitment to preserving geological formations for future generations to study.

Located 9 kilometers from Karapınar center and 2 kilometers south of the Konya-Adana highway E981, the lake provides opportunities for geological research.

The lake contains an inner water body reaching depths of 25 meters, with high salt concentration due to mineral deposits from volcanic activity.
