Divlit Yanardağı, Volcanic cone in Kula, Turkey
Divlit Yanardağı is a volcanic cone in Manisa province that rises to about 750 meters elevation above the Gediz Gorge. The site features two separate formations located near Demirköprü Dam Lake.
The volcano experienced its final eruption during the Holocene period and left traces of ancient human presence. Footprints in the volcanic material provide evidence of people living in the area during very early times.
Local people use different names for each cone, with the larger one called Çakallar Tepesi. The area reflects human presence from earlier times through abandoned settlements nearby.
The site is located roughly 25 kilometers northeast of Salihli and can be reached by traveling on the road toward Demirci. Access is straightforward since it sits in a well-known mountain region of the province.
The site is part of a large geopark that contains important geological formations spread across a wide area. This collection of features makes the protected natural area internationally recognized for its scientific value.
