Holy Saviour's monastery of Yerazgavors

The monastery features traditional Armenian architectural elements with stone walls, displaying characteristic designs and detailed stonework throughout its structure.

King Smbat I commissioned the construction of the Holy Saviour's monastery between 892 and 893 AD, and Catholicos Yovhanness consecrated it around 897 AD.

The monastery represents Armenian religious heritage through its architectural design and spiritual significance as a center for Armenian Christian worship and community gatherings.

Visitors can reach the monastery by traveling to Akyaka in the Kars Province of Turkey, approximately 25 kilometers northeast of the medieval city of Ani.

The structure underwent transformation into a fortified tower, which required filling eastern niches, modifying windows, and adding an external staircase to the northern end.
