The lighthouse, constructed in 1977, forms a critical navigational line with Ahırkapı Feneri across the strait, establishing the southern boundary of Istanbul's port.
The structure represents the maritime heritage of Istanbul, standing as a symbol of safe passage through the Bosporus, connecting the Black Sea to Marmara.
Operating on solar power, the lighthouse emits white flashes lasting two seconds every four seconds, providing visibility up to 13 nautical miles into the Sea of Marmara.
The lighthouse features a Tideland ML-300 lantern with a one-piece acrylic Fresnel lens, generating 35 watts of power at a focal height of 14 meters.
