Ladies Beach, Kuşadası, Sandy beach in Kuşadası, Turkey
Ladies Beach in Kuşadası is a public sandy beach on the Aegean coast of Turkey, located a short distance south of the town center. The shoreline is backed by a paved waterfront with restaurants, cafes, and sunbed rentals lined up along the sand.
The beach took its name during the Ottoman period, when it was set aside exclusively for women to bathe. Through the 20th century it gradually opened to everyone and became the public town beach it is today.
The name Ladies Beach recalls a time when the shore was set apart for women only, which makes it stand out among other beaches in the area. Today it draws families, young people, and tourists alike, and on summer days it feels like a natural meeting point for the whole town.
The beach is easy to reach from Kuşadası town center by local bus or a short drive, with parking available close by. It gets very crowded in high season, so arriving early in the morning or later in the afternoon makes the visit more comfortable.
Although the name suggests women only, the beach had already been open to everyone for decades by the time mass tourism arrived in Kuşadası in the 1970s. The name stuck anyway and still puzzles or intrigues first-time visitors today.
