Dilucu Border Crossing
Dilucu Border Crossing is a checkpoint between Turkey and Azerbaijan located near Aralık that spans the Aras River. The facility has nine pedestrian platforms and separate vehicle lanes with straightforward, functional design.
The border gate opened in 1992 following the Soviet Union's collapse and has served as the main link between Turkey and the isolated Nakhchivan region since then. It stems from the Treaty of Kars in the 1920s that established the border between the two countries.
The crossing brings together communities with shared Turkish heritage on both sides. Visitors notice everyday interactions between people crossing for family visits, trade, or regional connections.
Travelers should bring a valid passport and vehicles should have Green Card insurance, as checkpoint procedures are thorough. The facility operates from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM and provides accessible facilities and emergency contacts on both sides.
The crossing is widely known as the Bridge of Hope since it forms the only direct land connection between Turkey and Azerbaijan. This makes it a significant symbol for regional ties and economic exchange between the two countries.
