Tekirdağ gas power plant, Natural gas power complex in Marmara Ereğli district, Turkey
Tekirdağ gas power plant is an electricity generation facility located near Marmara Ereğli that operates with two gas turbines. The installation uses a combined cycle system where waste heat boilers recycle thermal energy to produce additional electricity.
The facility was completed in 1999 by ASEA Brown Boveri using a build-operate-transfer model. This construction contributed to increasing power capacity in the Marmara region.
The power plant represents Turkey's modernization of energy infrastructure, reflecting national priorities for industrial development in the Marmara region.
The facility connects to the 154 kV distribution network and works with multiple sites including Botaş, Tegesan, Çerkezköy, and Silivri. Visitors should keep in mind this is an active industrial site and access may be restricted for safety reasons.
The plant produces fresh water from seawater through two separate systems, each generating roughly 1000 tons daily. This is a critical resource for operations and shows how the facility manages its own water supply.
