Shalu District

Shalu District is an administrative area in Taichung that combines residential neighborhoods, agricultural zones, and commercial spaces across its territory. The area incorporates different land uses that support both urban and rural activities.

The area began as a settlement of the Papora people and was gradually settled by Han Chinese during the Kingdom of Tungning period between 1662 and 1683. This population shift shaped the region's later development and culture.

The district preserves ties to traditional Taiwanese heritage through regular festivals and temple ceremonies held throughout the year. Night markets showcase local food specialties and reflect how residents spend their evenings together.

The district is accessible through Shalu Station, Taichung International Airport, and major highways that connect different parts of the city. These transportation links make it easy to move to other areas of Taichung and beyond.

The district is home to Hungkuang University and Providence University, two major colleges that draw students to the area. The presence of these institutions shapes daily life and brings a younger demographic to the neighborhood.
