Zi Yun Yan

Zi Yun Yan is a five-story Buddhist temple in Qingshui District, Taichung, featuring twin three-story bell towers at its entrance. The building contains multiple altars dedicated to different Buddhist deities spread across its floors.

The temple's origins trace to 1662 during the Qing Dynasty, when a traveling roofer left behind a Guanyin statue that locals reported emitting light. This legendary event became the foundation for the site's religious importance.

The temple houses rotating Tai Sui statues on its third floor and displays major representations of Guanyin, Wenshu, and Puxian. These figures remain central to how visitors and devotees experience the spiritual practice within these walls.

The temple is accessible by public transportation with parking available for visitors on the grounds. Facilities including restrooms and an administration building make navigation and comfort convenient during your visit.

During the Ghost Festival, local villages prepare thousands of offering tables that fill the temple plaza with traditional ceremonial displays. This annual spectacle draws visitors who wish to see the living continuation of age-old traditions.
