Linkou District, Administrative district in New Taipei, Taiwan
Linkou is a district in northwestern New Taipei City that spreads over forested hills and small canyons. The area combines residential developments with green zones that give the terrain its varied character.
The district belonged to Taipei County until 2010 and then became part of the newly formed special municipality of New Taipei. This transformation brought changes in administrative structure and local governance.
The district maintains 17 urban villages that evolved from traditional rural settlements, each preserving elements of local Taiwanese community life.
The Taoyuan Airport MRT line connects the district with central Taipei and the international airport. Visitors to the area will find a network of roads and public transport that runs through the residential neighborhoods.
Since 2011, the population has grown by more than 40 percent, making this one of the fastest-growing places in the region. New housing developments and buildings now shape the appearance of many neighborhoods.
