Yingge District

Yingge is a district in New Taipei specialized in ceramic production, home to hundreds of workshops spread throughout the area. The zone functions as a connected craft landscape where shops, studios, and production facilities exist side by side.

The area's ceramic tradition traces back roughly two centuries, when local craftspeople began using the region's abundant clay deposits. These early beginnings established the foundation for its development as a production center.

Ceramic craftsmanship shapes daily life here, with open workshops where artisans work at their wheels visible throughout the streets. The museums and galleries show how traditional techniques remain active and blend with contemporary approaches.

The district is best reached by train from Taipei, offering regular and direct connections to the main railway station. Most workshops and shops are within walking distance of the station, making navigation straightforward.

The place's name originates from a historical rock formation locally known as Parrot Stone, which influenced the naming of the area. This geological landmark has since disappeared, but the name still carries this link to the landscape's past.
