Changhua Wude Hall, Martial arts center in Changhua City, Taiwan
Changhua Wude Hall is a training building with multiple rooms designed for different martial arts disciplines and exhibition spaces showing traditional weapons. The rooms are laid out so that groups can practice different techniques at the same time.
The building was constructed during Japanese rule over Taiwan and opened on October 18, 1930 as a center for Japanese martial arts. A major earthquake in 1999 caused significant damage to the structure.
The hall displays weapons and photographs that show how martial arts developed in Taiwan and how people trained across different time periods.
The building stands near Changhua Station and is easy to reach by public transport. Visitors should check ahead to see if training sessions are happening, as this may affect access to the spaces.
After the 1999 earthquake, major restoration work in 2005 kept the original architectural style intact. This careful rebuilding allowed the structure to blend period design with modern training facilities.
