Changhua City

Changhua City is the county seat of Changhua County in central Taiwan and spreads across a flat plain where residential neighborhoods, shops, and temples sit side by side. The city serves as the administrative center for the surrounding agricultural region and connects rural villages with urban services.

The area shifted from a Babuza indigenous settlement to a territory of Chinese settlers during the 17th century. It later became an administrative center under Japanese colonial rule in 1897.

The name Changhua means „the transformation of teaching

Changhua Train Station sits on the main line of the Taiwan Railways network and offers regular connections north and south along the west coast. Freeway 1 runs along the eastern edge of the city and allows drives to Taichung in about 30 minutes.

A Buddha statue standing 26 meters (85 feet) tall rises on Baguashan and can be seen from much of the city below. Visitors can climb the steps and take in views over the flat farmland around the area.
