Guanyintempel van Anping

Guanyin Temple is a Chinese temple in Anping featuring a gleaming golden exterior and a main hall with multiple altars. Inside, statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva and other deities stand among ornate decorations where worshippers leave offerings.

The temple began in the late 1500s when fishermen brought a Guanyin statue from mainland China to Anping. The current building was reconstructed between 1986 and 1992, though it still preserves plaques from earlier periods.

Worshippers burn incense and leave offerings at the altars as part of their daily spiritual practice. The temple serves as a gathering place where residents connect with their faith through these long-standing rituals.

The temple is located on Guanyin Street and welcomes visitors throughout the year. It is best to arrive early in the morning for a quieter experience, and visitors should respect local customs when taking photos or moving around the space.

Despite numerous reconstructions over the centuries, the temple preserved historical plaques and inscriptions from its earlier forms. These artifacts offer visitors a glimpse into the layers of history beneath the gleaming modern exterior.
