Huangxi Academy

Huangxi Academy is a Chinese temple and school in Dadu combining traditional courtyard design with religious architecture, featuring a central pavilion and two side wings. The complex includes multiple interior spaces with detailed woodwork and carved decorative elements on columns and beams.

The academy was founded in 1888 as an extension of Wenchang Temple and later closed during Japanese rule. It underwent major restoration beginning in 1984 to recover its original appearance.

The building displays southern Chinese architectural features with its five roof sections and six ornamental roof edges that reflect late Qing Dynasty craftsmanship. You can see these details clearly when walking through the spaces and observing the careful construction of the roofline.

The site sits southwest of Dadu Railway Station and opens daily to visitors throughout the day, making it accessible at various times. Since it serves as an active place of worship, visitors should move respectfully through the spaces and be mindful of ongoing activities.

Two moon gates near Sanchuan Hall display Chinese crabapple flower shapes created through precise brick layering, with each gate showing a distinct floral pattern. These hand-crafted details represent specialized masonry work that visitors often overlook.
