城西垃圾焚化廠

Chengxi Waste Incineration Plant is a waste treatment facility in Annan District, Tainan, with two incinerators processing waste daily. The installation converts non-recyclable materials into energy through its combustion systems.

Development of the facility began in 1993 as a joint venture between Taiwan's Chung-Hsin Electric and Denmark's Volund companies. Operations started in 1998, marking a significant step in the region's waste management infrastructure.

The site includes the Water Paradise Chengxi Hall, a recreational swimming facility that serves the community as part of a compensation initiative. This public space reflects how the plant addresses its role in the local area.

The facility is located in the southwestern part of Tainan and is reachable by public transportation, with buses serving the main connection. Visitors should expect that access and tours may be subject to specific guidelines.

The facility was originally planned for the Wanli area but was relocated to Annan District following neighborhood opposition during planning stages. This relocation reflects local challenges faced when establishing such infrastructure.
