Ligang Shuangci Temple, Religious temple in Pingtung County, Taiwan
Ligang Shuangci Temple is a shrine in Pingtung County featuring traditional Taiwanese architecture with intricate wooden carvings and brightly painted surfaces. The building contains several halls dedicated to different deities, arranged and decorated in an integrated artistic style.
The site originated in 1731 when residents built a place of worship following a merchant's recovery from illness. The shrine was initially known as Tianhou Temple.
The temple brings together community members during annual celebrations honoring Mazu, the goddess of the sea. These gatherings reflect how local people maintain their shared beliefs and traditions.
The temple is located on Daping Road and welcomes visitors during its regular opening hours. You can find informational materials inside to help you understand the worship practices and the space.
The shrine preserves several stone tablets from the Qing Dynasty, including one dedicated to peace and another against gambling. These carved records reveal how the community once documented its values and concerns.
