TAXI Museum, Transport museum in Suao, Taiwan
The Taxi Museum in Suao houses over 2,000 taxi-related items spanning different countries and periods, including original vehicles, miniature models, and transportation equipment. The collection tells the story of how taxi transportation has developed across the world.
The museum was founded in 2019 by collector Lee Chi-Cheng after he purchased a toy taxi with license plate NYC-1009 during a trip to New York. This single purchase inspired him to build an entire collection focused on taxi transportation history.
The collection displays taxis from different countries, each reflecting the design preferences and transportation styles of its region. Visitors can observe how taxi appearance varies significantly across cultures and time periods.
Weekdays typically have fewer visitors, making it easier to explore at a comfortable pace. Parking is available on-site, and most visitors spend around 1 to 2 hours viewing the collection.
Each visitor receives a complimentary bumpercar ride with admission, adding an interactive experience to the visit. This playful activity contrasts with the museum's focus on historical objects and makes the experience more memorable.
