新秀姑巒溪橋, Railway bridge in Yuli Township, Taiwan.
The Hsinshu Kulung River Bridge is a railway bridge made of concrete that spans 580 meters over the Kulung River, connecting Yuli and Dongli. The structure carries two railway tracks and measures 12 meters wide to accommodate the rail system.
The bridge opened on March 30, 2007, as part of an eastern railway improvement project designed to straighten the rail line between Yuli and Dongli. This project helped modernize transportation in the region.
The bridge serves as a connection point between local communities, supporting the transportation needs of residents in the Hualien and Taitung regions.
The bridge was temporarily closed following damage from the September 2022 earthquake and underwent repairs using an innovative lifting and sliding method. The restoration work was completed to safely restore rail service.
The structure features a double-track railway system with traditional ballasted tracks and electrical poles installed for railway electrification purposes.
