Radomyshl, Historic city in Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine
Radomyshl is a city in Zhytomyr Oblast situated on the left bank of the Teteriv River at 163 meters above sea level. The city has factories for beer, malt beverages, and dairy products, along with facilities processing natural building materials.
The settlement was first recorded in 1150 as Mychesk and experienced changes during the Mongol invasions of 1240. Later it came under the rule of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which shaped its political and economic development.
The Museum of Ukrainian Home Icons housed in the castle displays religious artworks that reflect local spiritual traditions visible to visitors today. You can see how this craft and faith practice developed across the region through the displayed pieces.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months when the river landscape and city streets are easier to explore. Comfortable shoes are recommended since paths along the Teteriv and through different parts of town have varying conditions.
In the 17th century, Radomyshl operated the first paper mill in central Ukraine, marking an early industrial boom for the region. This facility was instrumental in the area's economic growth at that time.
