Kropyvnytskyi, Administrative center in central Ukraine
Kropyvnytskyi extends across both banks of the Inhul River, encompassing numerous residential districts connected by bridges and public transportation networks.
The settlement originated in 1754 as Saint Elizabeth Fortress, constructed as a defensive stronghold against Turkish and Crimean Tatar incursions into Russian territory.
The Theater of Coryphaei, established in 1882, marked the beginning of professional theatrical performances in Central and Eastern Ukraine with productions in Ukrainian language.
The city maintains direct rail and bus connections with major Ukrainian cities through its central station and operates regular municipal transport services.
Local factories produced substantial quantities of agricultural machinery during the 19th century through British-owned manufacturing plants, employing numerous skilled workers.
