Zolochiv

Zolochiv is a city in western Ukraine's Lviv Oblast, situated roughly 60 kilometers east of Lviv. The town center features notable buildings from the 1500s and 1600s, including a castle and several churches that shape its character.

The town received Magdeburg rights in 1523 under Polish King Sigismund I, marking its rise as an important trading hub. This privilege drew merchants and helped the region develop economically.

The religious buildings here tell the story of different periods and remain central to how locals see their town. Walking through, you notice how these structures shape the streets and squares where people gather.

The center is easy to explore on foot since major sights are close together. The warmest months offer the most pleasant conditions for walking around and observing the buildings and streets.

A memorial alley was created in 2014 to honor the Heavenly Hundred, people who supported democratic change in Ukraine. This installation stands as a meaningful reminder of the country's modern political journey for visitors who discover it.
