Baikove Cemetery, Historical cemetery in Holosiiv District, Ukraine
Baikove Cemetery is a burial ground in the Holosiiv Raion in Ukraine, its grounds spreading over wooded hills and tree-lined paths. The routes wind through dense rows of stone tombs, crosses, sculptures, and small chapels scattered among old trees.
The site opened in 1833 and took its name from the nearby Baikovo estate, located outside the city limits at the time. Expansion came in the 1880s with the addition of new grounds and a church to serve the growing population.
Many graves bear Slavic names and Orthodox symbols that reflect the religious heritage of the region. Families visit regularly, especially on memorial days, leaving fresh flowers or small candles at the tombs.
Access is possible from both sides of Baikova Street, which divides the grounds into two sections. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes, as many paths are uneven and crossed by roots.
A large share of the gravestones dates from before 1945 and displays styles ranging from classicism to Soviet realism. This variety turns the grounds into an open-air museum where different eras meet in one place.
