The Ukrainian government initiated construction in 2004 under Minister Heorhiy Kirpa's direction, leading to the bridge's completion and opening in 2011.
The bridge represents a major advancement in Ukrainian infrastructure, demonstrating local engineering capabilities through its design by Kyivdniprotrans.
With a capacity of 60,000 vehicles and 120 train pairs daily, the bridge provides essential transportation links between eastern and western sections of Kyiv.
The structure incorporates separate levels for railway and automotive traffic, making it the largest dual-purpose bridge crossing in Kyiv.
