Metiolkine, Urban settlement in Sievierodonetsk, Ukraine.
Metiolkine is an urban-type settlement in the Sievierodonetsk hromada located in eastern Ukraine. It functions as a residential community serving the surrounding area with basic municipal infrastructure.
The settlement was founded in 1820 and evolved from a rural community into an urban-type settlement during Soviet administrative reforms of 1925. This transformation shaped the basic character of the place for more than a century.
The settlement population demonstrates a linguistic distribution of 79.47 percent Ukrainian speakers and 19.43 percent Russian speakers according to census data.
The settlement connects to the nearby city of Sievierodonetsk and sits in relatively flat terrain that is easy to navigate. Visitors should plan accordingly as it is a small community with limited facilities.
In 2023 the settlement was officially reclassified when Ukraine modernized its administrative structure and removed the urban-type settlement category. This legal change marked the end of an administrative classification that had existed for nearly a century.
