Olenivka, Urban settlement in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine
Olenivka is a rural settlement in Dokuchaievsk Hromada in eastern Ukraine. The village spreads across gently rolling terrain with local roads connecting homes and farmsteads throughout the community.
The settlement was founded in 1840 and developed over generations as a rural village. Throughout the 20th century, it underwent several administrative reorganizations, most recently in 2020 when it became part of Dokuchaievsk Hromada.
The settlement maintains both Ukrainian and Russian linguistic influences, reflecting the regional demographic composition of eastern Ukrainian communities.
The village sits in a region with a continental climate, so visitors should consider the seasons when planning a trip. Access is mainly through local roads that connect the settlement to nearby towns.
Recent administrative reforms in Ukraine have transformed Olenivka's status, as the government abolished the urban-type settlement classification in January 2024.
