The bronze sculpture stands two meters tall near the Communication House, depicting Vladimir Vysotsky as police investigator Gleb Zheglov from Soviet television.
The first memorial was installed in 1998 to mark the 60th anniversary of Vysotsky's birth, making it the first such monument in Ukraine.
The monument represents Vysotsky's role as Gleb Zheglov from the television series 'Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed', which gained substantial recognition across Soviet society.
The monument is positioned in central Mariupol next to the main post office, at the intersection of primary pedestrian routes through the city.
The statue originally held a black pistol that repeatedly broke off, leading authorities to maintain the figure without the weapon rather than continuing repairs.
