Овруцький замок

Ovruch Castle is a medieval fortress situated on elevated terrain in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine. The surviving stone walls display characteristic Eastern European defensive design with recognizable layouts of towers and ramparts that once formed the complete fortification.

The castle was built in the late 14th century as a defensive position for border areas between Polish and Lithuanian lands. It witnessed multiple military conflicts that shaped the region throughout the medieval period and influenced the territorial boundaries of Eastern Europe.
