Hotel "Ukraine", Hotel in der Ukraine
Hotel Ukraine is a four-star hotel on Independence Square in the heart of Kyiv. The 21-story building has several hundred rooms, many of which face Khreshchatyk Street and the Old Kyiv Hill.
The hotel opened in 1961 under the name Hotel Moskva, built during the Soviet era. After Stalin's death, plans were scaled back and decorative elements were removed before the building was finished, leaving it simpler than originally designed.
The hotel stands directly on Independence Square, the central gathering point of Kyiv where public life plays out most visibly. During national holidays and city celebrations, people fill the square below, and the building serves as a backdrop to events that shape the city's identity.
The hotel sits right on Independence Square and is within walking distance of two metro stations, making it easy to reach without a car. Guests arriving by car will find parking options on nearby streets.
The hotel has an underground shelter equipped with WiFi, toilets, showers, and television, along with a generator and a separate street exit. This makes it fully functional as a standalone space during emergencies, independent of the main building's systems.
