Holosiivskyi National Nature Park, National nature park in Kyiv, Ukraine
The park spans over 11,000 hectares of forest lands with swamps, featuring centuries-old oak trees and numerous rare plant species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
The establishment of Holosiivskyi National Nature Park in 2008 followed a long preservation campaign that started in 1988 to protect the natural heritage near Kyiv.
The territory contains fortifications from World War II and ancient sites where prehistoric humans hunted and Scythian tribes conducted their rituals thousands of years ago.
Visitors can access the park through multiple metro stations, including Holosiivska and Teremky, and participate in activities such as trekking, orienteering, and birdwatching throughout the year.
The park maintains 24 plant species from the Red Book of Ukraine and shelters diverse wildlife, including elks, foxes, and rare forest birds within the capital city limits.
