Maksym Rylsky Holosiiv park, Protected nature area in Holosiivskyi district, Kyiv, Ukraine.
Maksym Rylsky Holosiiv Park is a protected nature reserve in Kyiv, covering large areas of woodland and four lakes. A mix of paved and unpaved paths runs through the grounds, connecting the different sections of the reserve.
The area was granted official nature reserve status in 1960, making it one of the earliest protected zones in Kyiv. During World War II, the site served as a defensive position, a past that left traces still visible in parts of the grounds.
The park takes its name from Ukrainian poet Maksym Rylsky, and a monument near the entrance marks this dedication. Locals use the space regularly for walks and rest, treating it as a green refuge within the city.
The reserve has several entry points, so it is easy to reach from different sides of the surrounding area. On-site facilities include places to eat, playgrounds, and rental options, which means visitors can plan a full day outdoors without leaving the grounds.
An Orthodox monastery and church stand inside the reserve, surrounded by forest rather than built on the edge of the city. Coming across an active religious site while walking through woodland is not something most visitors expect to find here.
