Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, Greek Catholic cathedral in Livoberezhnyi district, Kyiv, Ukraine.
The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ is a Greek Catholic church in the Livoberezhnyi district of Kyiv, built in a modern style with a central metal dome. Five crosses rise from the roof, making the building easy to spot from a distance.
Construction began in 2002, following plans by architect Mykola Levchuk, and the cathedral was completed in 2011. It was built at the initiative of the local Greek Catholic community, which wanted a dedicated place of worship on the left bank of the city.
The cathedral is the main gathering place for the Greek Catholic community on the left bank of Kyiv. On feast days, worshippers from across the city come together here for liturgies that follow the Byzantine rite.
The cathedral sits close to Levoberezhnaya metro station, which makes it easy to reach from the city center. The interior is open and spacious, so visitors can move around and take in the architecture without feeling rushed.
The crypt beneath the cathedral holds the remains of a notable religious figure, giving the building a memorial role alongside its function as a place of worship. This makes it one of the few active churches in Kyiv that also serves as a burial site of national importance.
