Museum of History of St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv

The museum sits in the bell tower of St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery and displays items documenting this religious complex's history. The collection includes manuscripts, ecclesiastical artwork, and architectural pieces spanning different periods.

The monastery was founded in 1108 and served as an important religious center in Kyiv for centuries. The original cathedral was demolished in 1937, but mosaics and frescoes from that era were salvaged and later restored.

The exhibition displays religious objects and artwork that reflect Orthodox traditions from medieval times onward. You can see handcrafted details and artistic forms that held meaning for believers across centuries.

The entrance is located at Triokhsviatytelska Street 6 on the monastery grounds. Information panels are available in Ukrainian and English.

Much of the collection consists of architectural pieces saved in 1937 that were held for decades at the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. These items were returned to Kyiv in 2001 and are now displayed here.
