Molchansky Monastery, Eastern Orthodox monastery in Putyvl, Ukraine.
Molchansky Monastery is an Orthodox convent in the town of Putyvl, in northeastern Ukraine. It consists of several churches and stone buildings arranged around a central courtyard, with characteristic domes and white-painted facades.
The monastery was founded at the end of the 16th century, making it one of the oldest religious sites in the Putyvl area. Over the following centuries it was rebuilt and expanded several times, but always remained a place of Orthodox worship.
The monastery is home to an active community of Orthodox nuns who hold regular services and prayer cycles. Visitors can enter the churches and hear the sung prayers that mark the rhythm of daily monastic life.
The monastery sits in the center of Putyvl and is easy to reach on foot. Since it is an active convent, visitors are expected to dress modestly and behave respectfully when entering the churches.
The monastery takes its name from the Molchanska Icon of the Mother of God, which according to tradition was found in 1562 in a nearby marshland. This icon is still considered the most important relic of the community and draws pilgrims from across the region.
