Onufriivskyi Arboretum, Protected arboretum in Kirovohrad Oblast, Ukraine.
Onufriivskyi Arboretum is a protected woodland area in the Omelnyk River valley with canals, dams, bridges, and three artificial ponds spanning about 52 hectares. Over 100 tree and shrub species grow here, connected by marked walking paths and information signs.
The grounds were founded in 1820 when Colonel Mikhail Tolstoy and his wife Kateryna Kamburlei created a master plan for the western ravine. This origin as a private park shaped its form and structure to this day.
The site is known for regular horseback riding activities on English thoroughbreds and serves as the venue for the International Ethnic Music Festival. These events shape the rhythm of visits and show how local people and travelers experience the grounds.
Access is free and the grounds are easy to explore on foot since marked paths run throughout. The best time to visit is outside of event days if you prefer a quieter experience.
A juniper grove within the grounds represents a specialized collection that stands out among the many tree species. This concentrated planting is a hidden detail that many visitors overlook.
