Khmelʹnyt︠s︡ʹkyĭ oblasnyĭ krai︠e︡znavchyĭ muzeĭ, Local history museum in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine.
The Khmelnytskyi Regional Museum is a three-story building with over 80,000 exhibits covering the natural, cultural, and historical aspects of the region. Its collections are spread across multiple galleries displaying objects that document regional life and development.
The institution began in 1929 as the Museum of Sanitary Culture before becoming an independent local history museum in 1933. Since then it has documented regional changes and development across many decades.
Visitors see traditional furniture, regional clothing, and decorative arts that reflect the heritage of western Podolia and southern Volhynia. These objects tell stories of how people lived and the crafts they valued in this region.
The museum is open daily and visitors should allow time to explore the large collections spread across three floors. Exhibitions are available in Ukrainian and English, making it easier to navigate the displays.
The museum holds one of Ukraine's largest weapon collections alongside rare porcelain pieces from the Polonskyi factory, each with individual artistic designs. This specialized collection is often overlooked by visitors even though it shows the skill of local craftspeople.
