Derz͡havnyĭ istoryko-kulʹturnyĭ zapovidnyk "Mez͡hybiz͡h"

The Medzhybizh History Museum occupies a Renaissance fortress at the confluence of two rivers and features defensive towers along with palace structures. Exhibition halls spread across the fortress grounds to house diverse thematic collections.

The fortress began in 1146 as a wooden structure and later became a stone fortress under the rule of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Through different periods of occupation, the site underwent various architectural changes.

The museum displays traditional Ukrainian textile craftsmanship and religious objects that reflect the region's spiritual heritage. Visitors can see handwoven fabrics and icon collections that show local artistic traditions.

The site is walkable throughout, with exhibition halls connected by helpful pathways across the fortress grounds. Wearing comfortable shoes is recommended, and visitors should plan enough time to see all areas thoroughly.

The fortress contains a 16th-century Church of Saint Nicholas that originally served as a Catholic place of worship. The building later functioned as a mosque during Ottoman rule, reflecting the region's complex religious history.
