Konstantin Battery

Konstantin Battery is a coastal fortress at Cape Khersonese built with thick stone walls and underground passages dating from the 1840s. The site contains gun emplacements, ammunition storage, and residential quarters arranged across different levels within the fortification.

The battery was built in the 1840s as part of Russia's southern coastal defenses. It saw heavy action during the Crimean War when British and French naval forces attacked the region.

The gun positions and barracks reveal how soldiers worked and lived during their watch over the coast. Walking through the stone corridors gives a sense of the routine and danger they faced daily.

Wear sturdy shoes since paths are uneven and stairs can be steep in places. Bring a flashlight to navigate the dark underground sections and passage areas safely.

Some original gun emplacements still bear bullet and shrapnel marks from the 1850s fighting. These visible scars on the stone offer a direct connection to the intense combat that took place here.
