Juno Beach, WWII landing site in Normandy, France.
Juno Beach is one of the five beaches of the Allied invasion of German-occupied France in the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944, during the Second World War.
The beach was taken from German forces by units of the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division and the British No. 48 Commando.
Today, Juno Beach is home to the Juno Beach Centre, a museum dedicated to commemorating the role of Canadian forces during WWII.
Visitors can tour the museum, walk along the preserved beachfront, and pay their respects at the nearby Canadian war cemetery.
Despite heavy resistance from German forces, by the end of D-Day, 15,000 Canadians had successfully stormed Juno Beach.
