Château de la Boétie, Renaissance manor in Sarlat-la-Canéda, France.

Château de la Boétie is a Renaissance manor in Sarlat-la-Canéda with a rectangular main building crowned by round towers. A spiral staircase in the southern tower leads to the interior halls and showcases the elegant spatial arrangement of the period.

The grandparents of Étienne de La Boétie began construction of this manor in the 16th century. Destruction came in 1589 during the Wars of Religion, which fundamentally altered the structure.

The manor displays French Renaissance features through its round towers and the small dovecote structure beneath the terrace. These architectural details shape how the place looks and feels when you walk around it.

The property is today privately owned and not open to visitors, having been registered as a historical monument in 1948. The exterior can be viewed from the street, which still offers a glimpse of the Renaissance architecture.

The adjacent Cluzel mill building still retains its original horizontal grinding stones and offers insight into medieval water power mechanics. This rare example shows how residents of the region harnessed water for work.
