The château features a rectangular main building with round towers and a spiral staircase in the southern tower leading to interior halls.
The grandparents of Étienne de La Boétie initiated the construction of the château in the 16th century, before its destruction in 1589 during the Wars of Religion.
The château exemplifies French Renaissance architecture with its circular dovecote beneath the terrace and its characteristic towers.
The château, registered as a historical monument in 1948, remains private property and is currently closed to visitors.
The former Cluzel mill, adjacent to the château, retains its original horizontal grinding stones and demonstrates period hydraulic techniques.
