Saint-Clair Church stands on Mount Saint-Bernard with a porch bell tower that marks the western Nantes landscape.
Construction began in 1854 to accommodate a growing population following the industrialization of the Haut-Chantenay neighborhood.
Architect Gustave Bourgerel designed the building in Early Christian style, departing from the neo-Gothic churches common during that period.
Located at 10 rue Maxime Maufra, the church opens Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In 1872, the church received an altar and paintings by Joseph Vallet depicting Christ giving mission to his apostles.
