Glasgow Botanic Gardens
Glasgow Botanic Gardens, Botanical garden in North Kelvinside, Scotland.
The Glasgow Botanic Gardens extends across 20 hectares of landscaped grounds along the River Kelvin with multiple Victorian glasshouses housing plant collections.
Founded in 1817 through Thomas Hopkirk's donation of his personal plant collection, the gardens relocated to their current location in North Kelvinside in 1842.
The Kibble Palace serves as the centerpiece of the gardens, featuring a collection of sculptures alongside ancient tree ferns from New Zealand and Australia.
The grounds open daily from 7:00 AM until sunset, while the glasshouses maintain separate operating hours and contain over 9,000 different plant species.
The gardens maintain the National Collection of Tree Ferns, with some specimens living in the Kibble Palace for more than 120 years.
