Maplewood, Residential township in Essex County, United States.
Maplewood is a residential township in Essex County, New Jersey, home to over twenty-four thousand people. The township covers about four square miles (10 km) and includes parks, public spaces, and residential streets close to New York City.
The township was founded in the mid-nineteenth century as a separate settlement. During the twentieth century it grew into a suburban community with its own administration and public facilities.
The township maintains multiple commissions focusing on environmental preservation, natural resources management, and recreational activities that strengthen community bonds.
Most facilities are located in the center of the township, where shops and services can be reached on foot. Information about public events and forms is available through the municipal administration website.
A restaurant in the township was the first in the United States dedicated exclusively to fantasy sports. The venue offered screens and areas where guests could follow their teams.
