The Benedictine monks of Newark Abbey maintain the church while operating Saint Benedict's Preparatory School, connecting education with religious heritage.
Located at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and William Street, the church remains an active place of worship within the Newark Archdiocese.
The church received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1972, preserving its status as a monument to immigrant contributions in Essex County.
