Wabasha County, Administrative county in southeastern Minnesota, United States
The county extends along the Mississippi River, containing valleys and bluffs with an area of 550 square miles at coordinates 44.28°N, 92.24°W.
Established on October 27, 1849, the county received its name from Chief Wa-pa-shaw of the Sioux Nation who maintained their central camping ground in the region.
The National Eagle Center in the county seat of Wabasha provides educational programs about American Bald eagles and regional wildlife conservation efforts.
The county maintains connections to Wisconsin through bridges across the Mississippi River, replacing the previous ferryboat transportation system established in the 1800s.
The Reads Landing School, built in 1870, remains preserved as an educational museum displaying classroom settings from the 1920s and 1930s.
